The pearl, a gemstone of the sea, is formed when an irritant enters a pearl oyster. Unable to get rid of the irritant, the oyster covers it in layers of nacre to protect the delicate inside of the oyster. As the irritant is slowly covered in layers of nacre, a pearl is formed.

The pearl is most often known as a gem of beauty belonging to women. It influences the energy of the body’s aura, transforming the negative energy into positive and warding away evil. Furthermore, the pearl is said to bless the wearer with love, protection and luck in ventures.

The pearl plays an important part in relationships. It is said that pearls provide one with luck in relationships, cements engagements and keep marriages going strong. Moreover, in a household where there is a pearl, relationships between sibling and parents improve.

The pearl also plays another vital role in balancing the wearer’s moods and emotions. It reins in sudden bursts of anger while flooding the owner with a sense of calmness and peace. So, by dispelling these unwanted emotions, the stone provides a clear mind to make accurate decisions. It also improves a person’s confidence and raises the self-esteem.

As the pearl is a gemstone of the sea, it is advisable to remove it before bathing. Also, since the nacre layers are organic enzymes from the oyster, pearls can be extremely sensitive to dampness, heat, humidity and acidity.
